IWH Workshop on Entrepreneurship and the Labor Market
22 April 2016 - All Day
Halle Institute for Economic Research, Kleine Maerkerstrasse 8, Halle (Saale) ; Germany
Call for Papers: The Department of Structural Change and Productivity of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) is hosting a workshop on Entrepreneurship and the Labor Market to be held in Halle (Saale) on April 22-23, 2016.
The emergence and the evolution of new businesses are closely linked to the labor market. On the one hand, the labor market situation may influence the decision to start an own business. On the other hand, the emergence and performance of new firms may have considerable direct and indirect employment effects. This conference aims at enhancing our knowledge on such links.
For this conference we welcome submissions of extended abstracts on the following topics (non-exclusive list):
- Start-up decision and wages
- Entrepreneurship and the local level of unemployment
- Entrepreneurship and employment protection
- Start-up decisions and the social security system
- Solo entrepreneurship
- The labor demand of new firms
- Indirect effect of new businesses on economic development
- Firm performance before exit
- Performance of start-ups across labor markets
Since many of these issues vary across space, a regional focus may be very appropriate. We are aiming at publishing selected contributions in a Special Issue of a scholarly journal but there is no obligation to submit contributions to journal.
A conference fee will not be charged. IWH will provide accommodation and reimburses economy travel costs for participants with accepted papers up to 500 (1000) Euro within (outside) Europe.
Submission: Please submit an extended abstract via https://de.amiando.com/Entrepreneur_Labor
Complete papers are also welcome. The submission deadline is January 14, 2016, authors will be informed by January 29, 2016.
